Most Sydney residents aren’t thinking about a plumbing safety inspection. Most individuals either schedule a plumbing check while purchasing a home or wait until something goes wrong before doing so. We like to say at Service Champions that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of treatment. That’s why we started inspecting plumbing systems for safety. Everything we check during the 4-5 points of this safety assessment is outlined below.
Your water heater is the unsung hero of your home. It assists you in bathing, cleaning, and staying safe. Our plumbers examine and inspect your water heater with great care. They’ll start by performing a visual assessment to see if there’s anything wrong with the appliance’s exterior,
which will involve checking the safety straps and looking for any evident leaking or sanding water. After that, the plumber will look over any electrical or gas components.
If those aren’t operating, there’s a huge risk of fire. We look for corroded wiring and mineral buildup caused by hard water. A water heater flush is recommended by Service Champions for appliances that are 5-years-old or younger.
This inspection is done in conjunction with the main sewer line inspection. We’ll check to determine if your household appliances have suitable vents that lead to the sewage. We can’t adequately snake the drain and give it the cleaning it needs without those vents.
Checking the water pressure is next on our to-do list. We only require a hose bib. Our plumbers will attach a pressure gauge to the hose bib, turn on the water, and take a pressure reading. The water pressure in your home should be between 65 and 75 psi. Anything beyond 75 can cause serious issues.
Many of your home’s appliances use gas to generate heat. A few examples include the stove, clothes dryer, and water heater. Our plumbers will inspect the gas lines that lead to the appliances for any leakage.
