Once your brick pavers have been cleaned with one of our four High Pressure wash systems, we return to sweep sand into all paver joints, Trillium uses only a high grade polymeric joint stabilizing sand. We then proceed to plate compact (which is an important step that many other companies skip). We then wet down and activate the binder (binder is a glue that holds the sand in together). The final step is to seal your brick pavers with either a High quality color enhancing solvent based acrylic sealer, which enhances the beauty of your pavers. If you desire, we can also apply a natural finish breathable sealer to waterproof the surface without any visible change in appearance or color. We get asked all the time, why should Brick Pavers get sealed?
Over time all surfaces take a beating from the elements. Rain, wind, ultraviolet light, freeze-thaw cycles and deicing materials all combine in a constant attack on your investment. In the short term this may go unnoticed, however if left unprotected, over time, irreversible and costly damage may occur. Soft components and color become washed out exposing rough aggregates Noticeable loss of color is also predominant due to the loss of the pigments and dyes that wash out over time. Sealer creates a barrier to protect from the elements that is similar to applying wax to the paint on a car. It is important to maintain your sealer once every three or four years.
